Road to Provincials: 213/231
So it’s pretty apparent that I bit off more than I could chew by saying I was going to type up a daily blog while preparing for my competition. As it turns out, I’m not the best blogger, which made me feel less and less inclined to keep up with the demand which is why it’s been roughly four months since my last entry!
Fast forward to today and I am 19 days out from provincials. Finally it will be time to showcase everything I’ve worked hard to achieve over this past year.
I’m feeling confident with everything up until now and I think I will be able to fine tune the few minor places I need to sharpen up in the next few weeks if I stick to my diet and hit all of my training sessions hard.
These next 19 days are going to be fun but challenging. Currently I am trying to tighten some things up with 30 minutes of fasted cardio in the morning followed by a weight session and some Tabata work later in the afternoon. The rest of the challenge lies in making sure to eat my food (and only my diet food), get enough sleep, keep up with work and chores and just stay focused on the overall goal. It’s very easy to get caught up or overwhelmed with the process and forget why you’re even doing this in the first place. At that point it’s no longer enjoyable and you won’t fare as well on stage either.
So I’m staying focused on the task at hand and remembering my initial goals of 1) coming in more conditioned than my first show and 2) following my diet more strictly. I want to present a respectable physique but I’m not too concerned with my actual placing. What I am concerned with is improving my overall package from last year. If I follow my training and diet to a tee all the way up until the show, I will have been successful and I know that I will by default end up coming in more conditioned than my first show.
Now that things are wrapping up pretty soon here, I’ll try to do a better job of keeping everyone updated with the progress leading up to June 5. I have been taking weekly progress pictures as well starting at 10 weeks out that I will most likely post just before or after the show so you can see the changes that were made as I got closer to competition date.
