Road to Provincials: Day 54/231

It’s a dark, rainy day here in London today but that isn’t slowing me down. Other than a little nagging elbow pain, I’m on the upswing again in the gym and the kitchen. The last couple weeks were kind of crappy for motivation and productivity but I think I was just getting a little burnt out. Taking a week ‘off’ (I didn’t actually take the full week completely off, I just scaled back the training big time and messed around with some light pump sets and mobility instead) really helped me out. This week was much better for drive in the gym as well as in the kitchen and I can’t wait to get through these next seven weeks or so and get into prep!

Saturday’s are generally light client training days for me so today was only one client session, a check-in with an out of town client and then a gun run for me that I crushed with another one of my clients who was up for joining. I haven’t been updating the blog the last few days so I missed throwing up a few workouts from the new program but here’s what I did for today (I’ll be sure to add the missing days next week):


Warm up – 5min (bike)

DB Kickback                                    4/12-15

Close Grip Bench Press            4/12-15

Overhead Rope Extensions            4/20-30

DB Incline Curls                        4/12-15

BB Curls                                    4/12-15

SA High Cable Curls                        4/20-30


Short and sweet and full of skin-tearing pump sets. I have to give credit to my client Jon who went rep for rep with me for the whole thing and even finished a few more sets when I had to wrap up to meet with another client.

On a side note, I picked up a new pair of headphones for the gym, the Beats Solo2, and I have to say I’m impressed. Solid headphones that actually stay on your head when you’re lying down and moving around in the gym and the sound quality is excellent. There’s just something energizing about rolling in to workout with some new kicks, workout clothing or training gear and these headphones definitely did the trick today for me. If you’re in the market for some new headphones, I recommend these bad boys for sure.
