Road to Provincials: Day 29/231

Weight: 214.1 (light weight!)

Happy freakin’ Tuesday y’all. Here in London we’re two days into our winter snowfall and I already feel the depression rolling in. I hate this time of year for a couple reasons – 1) It’s cold and nobody likes that, 2) I can’t get away with wearing my favourite clothing combination of shorts and a t-shirt and 3) It gets dark at like 5:30pm which makes me tired enough to pass out at 7. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I hate winter.

Something about snow makes me want to stay inside, drink some hot chocolate and do a total of absolutely nothing save read a good book or watch a Christmas movie but unfortunately I can’t get away with that four months out of the year so I have to bite the bullet and tackle the cold weather and perpetual runny nose just like everyone else.

I notice my training take a hit when the cold rolls in as well. My motivation drops, I don’t care to hit my workouts as hard or as often and all I want to do is pass on the weights and nap in the tanning bed instead. Today is one of those days. As it stands now, I just might take an off day today and focus on some learning and website work instead.

I’m finally pushing my way through John Berardi’s ‘The Essentials of Sport and Exercise Nutrition’ that I picked up last March. I totally exercised the definition of procrastination on this one to the fullest by putting off my start date by about eight months but I’m rolling now so it’s all good haha. So far, I’m liking what I’ve read. If you’re looking for a comprehensive educational tool to help you grasp the basics of the human body and how food plays a role in our performance and overall well-being, give this course a go. Not only do you get set up with a text book but you’re also given a workbook to complete as you go along and also a collection of online videos to help recap what you’ve learned in the text. If you think you’d like something a little less detailed and time consuming, you could always just follow this simple meal plan:

Anyhow, I should get down to work here. I’ll most likely squeeze in a small lift today focusing on back, biceps and core and finish it off with my favourite – cardio. This xmas cut isn’t going to be the most fun but I have big plans of consuming multiple litres of egg nog so I better get to work now if I’m going to make that a reality.

Have a good one folks. See ya soon,
